EXPERIENCES RELATED TO GENDER EQUALITY AND COMBATING VIOLANCE AGAINST WOMEN

Director of Women and Family Research Center, Istanbul Commerce University, College of Humanities and Social Sciences

  • Carried out scientific research on the subjects of gender equality, empowerment of girls, women’s economic and social rights.
  • Organized panels, seminars, conferences on national and international level to raise awareness on gender inequality issues.
  • Developed new learning technique to be use by teachers on empowerment of high school girls: VIZE Visionary Goals for Girls.

Member of the Commitee of Experts, Democratic Progress Institute (DPI)

  • Participated to panel on “Women’s role in dialogue and conflict resolution in challenging times: Working together to address issues of common interest “
  • Carried out a comparative study visit to Ireland and Northern Ireland that brought together a group of young participants from across Turkey’s many constituencies.

Rector, Avrasya University

  • Established a Women Research Center.
  • Developed and implemented university elected courses on Gender Equality and Self Defense.
  • Organized a local campaign on prevention of violence against women.
  • Developed and implemented a “College Transfer Program” for Women who only have elementary school diploma.

Deputy Minister, Ministry of Family and Social Policies

  • Worked on adaptation and implementation of the Council of Europe Convention on preventing and combating violance aganist women and domestic violance (Istanbul Convention)
  • Prepared legislative regulations of the Law (6284) to Protect Family and Prevent Violance aganist Women in Turkey.
  • Established Violance Prevention Centers (ŞÖNİMs) for Women all around Turkey.
  • Developed Curriculum for Gender Equality to be used for formal educational institutions.
  • Served as a member of Global Agenda Council on Women’s Empowerment of World Economic Forum and member of Advisory Board of World Bank on Women Empowerment.
  • Established “Women Centers” in rural areas to empower women’s roles in countering violent extremism and radicalization that lead to terrorism.
  • Initiated and run several projects on women empoverment such as
    • “Step by Step Anatolia: women economic empowerment”,
    • “Women in Decision Making”,
    • “ Achieving Gender Equality”,
    • “Poverty Eradication”,
