You are invited not only to study at a prestigious university and but also to discover İstanbul, one of the most amazing cities on the world. Istanbul is a modern metropolis with the history of 300 thousand years. Istanbul has been an attractive settlement for various civilizations since ancient times. Istanbul was the capital city of three empires; the Roman Empire the Byzantine Empire, and the Ottoman Empire. Istanbul wasn’t only capital city and also center of trade, culture and social life. Today IOrtam Eklestanbul is not the capital of Turkey, but still constitutes the country’s economic, cultural, and historical heart. Istanbul is the only city on the world lies on two continents; Asia and Europe.  The Bosphorus Strait lanes between Black Sea and the entire Mediterranean and is considered one of the planet’s most strategic waterways. Due to its strategic locationat the hub of land and sea trade routes, Istanbul has been playing a role of bridge between the East and West. Therefore, Istanbul is the most important export and import gate of Turkey. With a population of 14.1 million, Istanbul is one of the largest urban agglomerations in Europe, second largest in the Middle East and the fifth-largest city in the world by population. Istanbul has a central importance in both domestic and international trade. Istanbul generates about 38% of Turkey’s total industrial output, 23% of Turkey’s Gross National Product (GNP), and contains %16 of Turkey’s working population. According to OECD, Istanbul is one of the fastest growing OECD metro-regions. This economic potential of Istanbul attracts many multinational companies, international banks and investors from all over the world. Istanbul has 30% of total commercial firms of Turkey in sectors of finance, tourism, services and manufacturing. The number of commercial firms in Istanbul makes Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) and Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO) as one of the biggest trade chambers in the world. Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO) has been serving Istanbul business world for 131 years and the founder of Istanbul Commerce University. Istanbul Commerce University Summer School will introduce you to “Commercial Life in Istanbul” with academic lectures and field visits to major economic organizations such as Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO), Istanbul Chamber of Industry (ISO), Istanbul Stock Exchange and Istanbul Development Agency. kapi

Dates: 14-25 July 2014

Eligibility: Undergraduate and graduate students from all programs and young graduates are welcome to apply.

Deadline: July 7th , 2014

Cost: 575€ (participants will just pay this fee to include all lectures, entries to museums, cultural activities, visit to companies, lunches, 5 dinners and local transportation) Flights, travel insurance, visa costs and accommodation are not included in this fee and these will be covered by participants.

Accommodation: ICU can arrange accommodation on your behalf in. On course days, ICU will either arrange transportation by bus from aparts to the ICU Campus and back.

Location: All courses will be conducted in classrooms at the Istanbul Commerce University – Sütlüce Campus.

The academic program of this Summer School is equivalent to 15 credits – 15 hours (European Credits Tranfer System).

The required minimum number of participants is 10 and the summer school will be opened only in case the minimum number of participants has been achieved.

The Istanbul Commerce University reserves the rights to cancel the program up to the start of the program.
